The first STEPFORD WIVES was a dreadful film with unobtrusive hints of humor. That nuance permitted the tension and the feeling of risk to assemble gradually, paving the way to a fairly upsetting finale. In this rendition, there is no nuance or working up. Or maybe, the tone shifts are as bumping as bounce cuts. It’s a parody! It’s an “awkward” satire! It’s an anticipation spine chiller! Post! Here comes a glad completion! Also the irregularities with respect to the “Stepfordization” of the spouses (talked about in other client remarks). Maybe Frank Oz and organization tossed a lot of random scenes together and trusted nobody would take note.
